A piece of film about the forgotten Muslim soldiers who served in WW1 and WW2, and about a
memorial which will be built in their name. A project with the backing of King Charles.

      Read Sir William’s testimonial
“Mohammed Khizr directed, filmed, edited and otherwise masterminded a 10 minute promotional film for the Trust I chair which, with support from the King, is planning a major memorial in the UK’s principal place of national remembrance. The film has been seen by a great many, including several national organisations, and has drawn universal praise. One of the pleasures of working with MK (as we call him) has been his enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile to get the right shot or capture the right effect. I have no hesitation in commending him to others who look for a filmmaker who appreciates fine buildings and is willing to apply his skills in a worthy cause.”

We believe film is the new printing press.

“Despite its early advances, [the Muslim world] lost its civilizational momentum partially
due to stagnation in information and cultural dissemination.”

- Marshall Hodgeson

We believe film is the new printing press - the 21st century mode of storytelling.

The consequences of a passiven approach to storytelling have deeply damaged
the image of Islam, the Muslim world, and the global Muslim diaspora.

This time we can’t allow Islamic narratives to be corrupted and dominated by outside forces.

Being active storytellers and not passive ones is fundamental in preserving the honour
of Islam, and communicating it’s beauty.

And so, Yusuf Studio is pursuing a renaissance in Islamic cinema and storytelling,
to ensure that Islamic narratives are communicated through film, not just well, but
on par with the best productions in cinema and film in the world today.

This is what Yusuf Studio is going to change.

This is what Yusuf Studio is changing.

“While Europe saw an explosion of books and ideas in the wake of the printing press, the Muslim world largely remained oral, manuscript-based, and elite-driven in its communication.” - Elizabeth Eisenstein

...as such, Islamic culture and stories haven’t been honoured to      the same degree as narratives and ideas from the non-Muslim world. This has caused the dominant narratives in the Muslim world to not originate from there, but in fact from Europe and North America.

Today’s struggles to reclaim Muslim narratives through film, media, literature, and social platforms are a direct response to centuries of underrepresentation and misrepresentation, and we are now playing catchup.

The West industrialised its printing. The Muslims spiritualised their manuscripts. In the race of ideas, the permanence of the printing press triumphed over the impermanence and beauty of manuscript and oral tradition, and the mass communication of the printing press dominated.

Yusuf Studio was founded by Mohammed Khizr (M.Arch, MLA), who has also founded Khizr Studio, an architectural storytelling studio.
